Are all the products naturally dyed and handwoven?

Some of these are available only here, some are available in Desi stores as well.

What is so unique about these products?

These products are made by Charaka Rural Womens’ Co-operative in a village in Karnataka. All the products are naturally dyed and handwoven, ensuring they are eco-friendly and handmade.

Are the clothes 100% cotton?

Yes, absolutely.

Do you use organic cotton?

No, we do not.

Are these products Khadi?

No, they are handloom, meaning the weaving process is by hand, whereas the yarn is mill made. For a deeper understanding of handloom, please click here.

Why are only some products listed here and not the complete collection?

We are slowly getting started online. In the coming days, you will see more collections.

Why does the product I ordered home not look exactly like how I saw in the photographs online?

Owing to the quality of naturally dyed fabric, the colours might not render as an exact match in photographs. Moreover, depending on the natural dye ingredients used, the weather conditions, each batch might vary in their colour shade. Rest assured that the product you are receiving is of good quality and is unique, which is a feature of handmade products.

How can I be sure I am choosing the right size?

If you have not purchased DESI earlier, please feel free to consult our customer care team on Whatsapp before purchase and ask for a size chart.

Will the products shrink after first wash?

Unstitched products like dupatta, stole, towels etc. tend to shrink upto 5%. Garments are pre-shrunk but a slight shrinkage is observed in some cases.

Do I need to starch the clothes?

Not required, the handwoven cotton tends to become softer with each wash. If absolutely required, in case of thinner fabric, a mild starch can be used.

Will the colours fade after washing?

All natural dyed fabrics are prone to bleeding in the first 2-3 washes. The fabric tends to gradually fade over a period of time. Indigo products must be dried and stored away from sunlight. Natural fading in places exposed to sunlight as well as at the folds might occur over time.


How do I place an order?

Can I place order just by sending a message?

Yes, you can send us your details on WhatsApp to place an order. Please complete the payment and ensure you receive the order confirmation.

Are there any timings to place an order?

Yes, we receive orders during our working hours Tuesday to Sunday 10.30am - 5pm. Monday is a holiday.

Why is the ordering through WhatsApp? Can I not just pay directly at the click of a button?

We have already been serving orders through Whatsapp for two years now. This online catalog will make this a little easier. We will move to a payment gateway and automatic order soon.

Is there a price difference if we shop online compared to Desi shops?

Yes, there might be some small differences depending on the product selected. Packaging and Shipping charges are extra too.

How will I know that the order has been placed?

Once you have completed the payment, you will receive the order confirmation through Whatsapp. Please contact our Customer Care in case you do not.

How do I track my order?

We will send you the tracking details once your order is confirmed. You could also contact us in case of any queries.

Can I place bulk orders for a product I select?

We generally have limited stock of the products displayed. However, you could contact us for placing bulk orders, we will check the availability and provide options.

Can I purchase as a gift that I want to send to a friend?

Yes, you could let us know when placing the order, we will remove the price tag.


What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Bank Transfer, GPay, PhonePe

Are there any additional charges / transactional charges?

Packaging and Shipping charges are extra. Standard online payment transactional charges apply.

What do I do if I am not sure that payment went through fine?

You can contact us to confirm if we received payment. Else you would need to check with your bank.

When do I get the invoice and bill for my purchase?

You will receive the invoice once you have placed your order. Bill will be received along with the shipped product.

If I gift a product, will my friend be sent a bill?

You can choose and let us know whether you would like a printed bill sent or not.

Shipping and Delivery

How many days will you take to ship the products?

If the product is available in the size you have selected, we will dispatch it on the same day. Depending on your address and the delivery mode, it can take anywhere between 3 to 7 days.

How is my order shipped?

Depending on the shipping address, we choose the most reliable and least expensive option. Eg: India Post

Do you ship outside India?

Yes we do, please check with us before placing the order.

Can I ship different items to different addresses in the same order?

No, this is not possible. Please order them separately.

How to calculate my shipping charges?

Let us know your address while placing the order. We will calculate it for you.

Exchange and Returns

Can I exchange or return what I purchased?

Exchanges / Returns are entertained in case of damaged products or in case of size mismatch based on availability.

Will I get a replacement if the size I bought doesn’t fit?

Please ensure that you consult us regarding the size before purchase if you have any enquiries. If it still did not fit, you could contact us for an exchange. We will consider it based on availability.

How to send back an item for exchange?

Please ensure that the tag is intact, the bill is enclosed and the product is in new condition (not crumpled, washed, damaged or stained). Pack it well and ship it back to our office address.

Who will bear the cost of sending it back?

You will need to bear the cost of sending it back to us in case of exchange. If returning in case of damage, we will refund the product cost as well as shipping cost.

My package or product is damaged. How to replace it?

Contact us immediately and report the defect with pictures. Ship it back to our office address after confirmation with our Customer Care. Based on availability, we will try to send you the replacement at the earliest.
